Lots of snow, lost shovels and loads of fun. That was the recipe for a good day.
On the night of December 26, 2012 snow fell in a huge volume. There were stories of plows in the ditch, cars stranded on the 401 and many more frustrating situations; however we were fortunate enough to simply be stranded at home for the day on the 27th.
The road was not cleared until around dinner time and our driveway was not cleared until almost bedtime. Fortunately I only had to clean a small portion of the driveway by hand. The funny part is that our shovels are lost in the snow somewhere. I had to clear the porch, walkway and around the van with the kids’ toy shovel. The experience gave me a little more exercise and a fun time with Sarah. Great time.
While stranded, we were able to enjoy the family time. I don’t think it gets better than that.
Today was another great day. Since we were free to leave the house we ventured into town following some outdoor snow play time. We were able to shed the winter wear and sport our bathing suits at the pool. Sarah decided, with a little coaching, to attempt the big spiral slide that she has been afraid to try and realized that she absolutely loves it. It was hard to keep her off of it. Caleb and Josh also had a great time.
Following the pool the kids were treated to a buffet supper and then hot chocolates when we got home. I think it goes without saying that bedtime was early tonight.
